André Ilbawi, M.D. is a clinical specialist and senior fellow in complex surgical oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School with a Certificate in Global Health, where he helped found the Guatemala Health Initiative. He then received his training in surgery at the University of Washington.

Supported by the US National Cancer Institute, he completed a research fellowship with the Union for International Cancer Control and the Breast Health Global Initiative.  During this time, he helped produced Knowledge Summaries for Comprehensive Breast Cancer Control, a novel tool to integrate health policy and clinical care.  His research efforts focus on access to care and health system development.
